The plan of the Council is to close the Nowra Pool so that they can sell the land to developers.

They have one difficulty - it is not theirs to sell.

The land, a part of which the pool is located on,  belongs to our community. The Council cannot sell the land unless the classification of the land is changed from Community to Operational.

To do this they have to go through certain steps, a preliminary one being what is called 'public consultation'. This consultation traditionally takes the form of the Council going to the community and explaining their idea.

If enough community reluctance is shown the final word on the matter lies with the Minister.  Already the Department has scotched a similar plan, so if enough people object he can stop the project.
