It's using too much water.

More than a myth, this one. It's as near to a barefaced lie as you can get. Below are the official figures comparing the major pools.

What these figures don't tell, and the Pool Closers won't tell...

·        Bay and Basin Leisure Centre and Ulladulla have water saving devices including water recovery off the roof. These water saving devices supply up to 40% of the water used in the pool. You can well imagine what the figures would be if they hadn't built in these.

·        The bulk of water usage for Nowra Pool in winter is for  backwashing of filters, lawn and garden use and showers.

·        The Nowra pool holds 40% more water than any other equivalent 50 m pool in the area because of the deep diving end and therefore the initial fill takes more water. Other pools do not have deep diving facilities.

·        The figures for the Ulladulla Centre really bring the whole matter back into perspective a total water usage for the year of 16.3 million litres.
